Clinton Morrison has claimed that ‘he has heard’ that Leeds United want to sign Adama Traore from Wolves and how he could be a possible replacement for Raphinha.

The former striker added that Traore has ‘so much ability’ and he is ‘surprised’ Wolves could possibly allow the 26-year-old to head for the exit door this summer, as he told BBC Radio 5 Live Sport.

Traore was on-loan at Spanish giants Barcelona for the second half of the recently-concluded campaign and there are now rumours surfacing that Leeds want to sign him.

With a lot of talk around Raphinha’s future at Elland Road, it has raised doubt as to whether one of the club’s star men will still be in Yorkshire by the time the 2022/23 season kicks off, ironically enough, Leeds will host Wolves.

Nonetheless, this is what Morrison had to say about Leeds possibly bringing in the all-action Traore to the club.

“You know who I have heard, they have been linked to and that’s Adama Traore,” said Morrison. “So, obviously you lose one with Raphinha and try to bring in another one.

“We know what Adama Traore is like. He has got so much ability but his end product hasn’t been good enough. I am surprised Wolves are letting him go.

“But, at the end of the day, his end product has let him down. He went to Barcelona, it hasn’t really worked out for him. He has a year left at Wolves. Bruno Lage has said many times that he might ‘keep him’, but it’s a struggle, at the moment.

“I am just thinking ‘what is going to happen with Adama Traore’. But I think he would be a good signing for Leeds if they do lose Raphinha because at least he knows the Premier League.”

TRAORE’S UNPREDICTABLE WAYS SUITS LEEDS

Traore can go from ripping through a team like they are mannequins to then putting the ball in row z when he is simply trying to put in a cross from the byline.

The Spain international probably sums up what Leeds have been like, frantic, all-action, aggressive, unpredictable and they can go from the subline to the ridiculous in next to no time.

So, from that perspective, he would suit Jesse Marsch’s side down to the bone, but not as a replacement for Raphinha.

Whilst Traore has explosive power and can push through anything that comes his way, he doesn’t have the ruthless and clinical nature Raphinha has to his game in the final third.

The Brazil international scored 11 Premier League goals last season, whilst Traore has managed only eight from 160 Premier League matches – that in itself tells you everything you need to know.
