Leeds United forward Joe Gelhardt has expressed his admiration of Liverpool star Diogo Jota on Sky Sports.

Gelhardt has said that his Leeds teammate Patrick Bamford once showed him a clip of Liverpool and Portugal international forward Jota scoring a header.

The 20-year-old Leeds star has said that it is “ridiculous” that the £41 million (BBC Sport) 25-year-old former Wolverhampton Wanderers forward scores so many goals with his head.

Jota has scored 40 goals in 122 Premier League appearances so far in his career.

Seven of those goals have been headers.

Gelhardt was released by Liverpool as a boy and then by Merseyside rivals Everton.

The forward made his mark at Wigan Athletic before joining Leeds.

Gelhardt said: “”He also showed me clips from other strikers in the Prem.

“I remember he showed me a goal from [Liverpool’s] Diogo Jota, a header inside the box. He scores so many headers, it’s ridiculous.

“Pat just told me, ‘If you stay between the sticks, you’re going to score goals.'”

Big player for Liverpool

In our opinion, Diogo Jota is a hugely important player for Liverpool.

There have been injury concerns for the Portuguese star, but when he is fit and available, he is a force to be reckoned with.

Jota is not a ‘striker’, but he has a great eye for goal.

The former Wolves star’s clever movement and ability to find space is something that really helps Liverpool when he plays.

Jota has played only 10 minutes in the Premier League and just 94 minutes in the UEFA Champions League for Liverpool so far this season.
