Well, that’s another player Tottenham have sold who has gone on to lift some silverware with another club.
Kyle Walker has been the obvious one in recent years, with Christian Eriksen joining the party most recently with his Serie A triumph and now Kieran Trippier has won the La Liga title for the first time in his career.
On Saturday, Trippier, who left Tottenham for Atletico in 2019, helped his side edge past Real Valladolid on the last day of the season, as Diego Simeone won the Spanish title for the second time in nine years.
Trippier has been a key part of that success over in Spain and, after that achievement, he took to Instagram to express his delight at the news.
Many Premier League players, coaches and ex-teammates heaped praise on the Englishman.
Aston Villa defender Tyrone Mings told the £20 million right-back (BBC Sport) that it was an ‘amazing’ achievement, as he congratulated him on his efforts.
Leicester’s quick-thinking midfielder, James Maddison, wrote: “What a guy and what an achievement.”
Georges-Kévin Nkoudou, who struggled during his time in Tottenham colours, also wrote: “Congrats Trips. Happy for you.”
Whilst Michel Vorm added: “Congratulations my bro, so happy and proud of you. Enjoy it. Well deserved.”
Success such as this is going to raise the obvious question about Harry Kane, but in truth, the limelight should be more on Daniel Levy.
When the likes of Trippier and Co. were thriving in Tottenham colours, it was at that point that Levy should have shown serious ambition and backed the overachieving Mauricio Pochettino.
Instead, he was sacked, so was Jose Mourinho, and now there isn’t a permanent manager in charge.
