It has been nearly two years since Tottenham decided to sell their academy product, Kyle Walker-Peters, to Southampton.

In return, Spurs signed Matt Doherty from Wolves and, at the time, had Serge Aurier on their books… that worked out well, didn’t, Daniel Levy?!

Whilst question marks still remain over that right-back, or now right wing-back role for Spurs, there aren’t such questions being asked about the man that was seemingly deemed not good enough for that role.

Walker-Peters recently earned his first England call-up and he took to Instagram to express how ‘enjoyable’ his first day was at St George’s Park.

Watford midfielder, Moussa Sissoko, would have seen the 24-year-old make his way through the ranks during their time in north London.

The France international posted a heartwarming message to his former teammate by telling him: “Bonga, I am so happy for you. Enjoy little brother.”

It’s a much-deserved call for Walker-Peters because he has been outstanding since the day he stepped foot into St Mary’s.

Not only has he been thriving as a right-back, when given a chance, but he has now largely played as a left-back.

And, once again, he has done the business for the Saints and now finds himself on St George’s Park path.

To put it in a blunt fashion, Walker-Peters walks into Tottenham’s XI today, not just as a right wing-back, but on the left channel also.

It was a mistake by the north London club to let their academy star leave because, what is their loss, has been Southampton’s gain.
