Rio Ferdinand has disclosed what Arsenal defensive midfielder Declan Rice has said to him about the message from manager Mikel Arteta.

Declan Rice joined Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal from London and Premier League rivals West Ham United in the summer transfer window.

Rice is one of the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League.

The 24-year-old is expected to be a big player for Arsenal, not just for now, but for years to come as well.

Declan Rice happy under Mikel Arteta at Arsenal

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand recently met Rice at Arsenal’s training ground.

And the TNT Sports pundit has said that Rice looks very happy at Arsenal, sharing what the England international midfielder has told him about Arteta.

Ferdinand said on his YouTube channel: “I went to the training ground in the middle of last week and did a piece with Declan.

“Declan was saying, ‘I have seen stuff in four weeks that has changed me completely’. He could so excited to be there.”

The pundit added: “I said, ‘What’s the manager has given you man?’

“He went, ‘Even the fact of telling me how and when to stand still. Just standing still and letting the game sometimes go past you. Just  little details that are helping me see the game in a different way’.”

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is a very good ‘coach’.

We have seen how the Spaniard has helped improve players such as Martin Odegaard and William Saliba.

Odegaard struggled to make a real impact at Real Madrid, but under Arteta at Arsenal, the Norway international playmaker has flourished and is now one of the best playmakers in the Premier League.

Rice could improve and add facets to his game under Arteta.

After all, he is still only 24.

Rice is a very good and capable defensive midfielder, and perhaps under Arteta, he will learn how to advance forward and be more of a threat at the other end.
