Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to react after they saw what Lucas Moura said earlier ahead of the Europa League clash with Dinamo Zagreb.
Speaking about the ‘Welsh Mafia’, the 35-cap Brazil international said: “I am a Brazilian guy, but to do the W with my hands is difficult. The Welsh mafia is very nice, they are all nice guys and they accept me well so I am happy to be part of this mafia.”
Now, it’s unlikely he began talking about this on his own accord, but these comments have not gone down well with the Spurs fans on Twitter.
If you weren’t already aware, the ‘Welsh Mafia’ is a group consisting of Gareth Bale, Ben Davies and Joe Rodon.
It’s become something of a clique among the Tottenham squad, and has led to Bale making a ‘W’ with his hands to celebrate his recent goals.
As aforesaid, we’re sure Lucas was asked about this rather than deciding to talk about it himself.
However, his words seem to have left fans feeling quite frustrated following the 2-1 defeat to Arsenal in the north London derby.
It seems that supporters are keen to see a bit more seriousness from the 28-year-old after the disappointing defeat, rather than lighthearted comments about friend groups within the club.
In fairness to the former Paris Saint-Germain attacker, he was one of few who actually looked interested against Arsenal.
WhoScored shows he made two tackles and two interceptions, while also winning five aerial duels and five freekicks.
He also recorded two key passes and embarked on four dribbles – in fact, WhoScored actually gave him their Man of the Match award too.
