Tottenham fans have hit out at Daniel Levy and their club’s rumoured attempt to try and stop Newcastle United’s recent takeover.
The Daily Mail have claimed that Spurs were one of a number of clubs fronting attempts to stop a Saudi-led group from replacing Mike Ashley at St James’ Park.
On Thursday, Newcastle supporters received the news they have been waiting for when Saudi’s £700 billion Public Investment Fund (PIF) group paid £305 million to take ownership of the Magpies.
It was seemingly met with fierce opposition from Premier League clubs and Spurs fans have slammed Levy for fronting efforts to try and stop such a deal.
Levy isn’t exactly Mr Popular with his own supporters, but it’s no surprise to them that such a thing has seemingly happened.
It’s pretty clear that there are a number of teams that feel threatened by what is happening, or going to happen, in the North East.
Newcastle have been battling near the bottom of the table, including suffering two relegations, during Ashley’s 14-year tenure.
But now, and it will take time, there is a real belief the Magpies can go down the same road as Manchester City and Chelsea have in recent years.
If that’s the case, then it’s Newcastle returning to Champions League football and winning trophies.
And if they do that then there will be teams, who are used to being at the top or want to get to the top, that will have this big Black and White roadblock in their way.
Nonetheless, here is a selection of Spurs fans reacting to the rumours regarding Newcastle’s takeover:
