Speaking on the Wrighty’s House Podcast, Ian Wright has been waxing-lyrical about Everton winger Demarai Gray.
Gray has gotten off to a phenomenal start at Goodison Park, he’s netted two goals already in the Premier League this term, and as you can imagine, this bright start has caught Wright’s eye.
The Arsenal legend has even gone as far as to say that he could be an England player if he keeps this level of performance up.
What’s been said?
Wright was speaking about Gray’s goal at the weekend.
“It’s a player that I always thought could do a lot more, but it never happened for him at Leicester, Demarai Gray. He scored against Leeds on his debut, then he scored a goal at the weekend against Brighton that was so direct and so easy for him. He picked up that ball and he was motoring, great finish.
“What I’ve seen from those first two games, and people are already saying he’ll fade out, but I pray to god he doesn’t and he can keep this consistency, because with his attributes and his abilities, he’s another England player in-waiting.”

Competitive
Gray is certainly a talented player, but it’s hard to see him breaking into this England squad unless he keeps up this level of form.
Now, that’s not a knock on Gray, but the left-wing is such a competitive spot at the moment for the Three Lions.
The likes of Jack Grealish, Marcus Rashford, Bukayo Saka and Raheem Sterling are already competing for that space, and that’s before we even mention someone like Harvey Barnes.
Gray getting an England nod would be a fantastic story, but it’s hard to see how he’d get in above the aforementioned stars.
