Celtic supporters have been protesting on Twitter

Tam McManus has strongly criticised Celtic supporters over their campaign to have Neil Lennon sacked.
Supporters of the Scottish champions have been flooding the notifications of their club’s official Twitter account with an image of Lennon behind a ‘banned’ sign, in an attempt to force the club’s hand.
Lennon has been the subject of intense scrutiny during a campaign that began with the expectation of 10-in-a-row and has degenerated into farce via three cup exits, a 23-point gap being opened up by Rangers and the controversial Dubai trip.

Fan protests began at Celtic Park in November following the Betfred Cup defeat against Ross County, but Lennon remains in the dugout.
That hasn’t sat well with elements of the club’s fanbase, and on Monday the fans account 4 Tims and a Podcast tweeted: “Nearly 1000 replies in about half an hour in reply to Celtic’s latest tweet, save this photo, bombard them with it everywhere they post, flush him out, no let up until he is gone.”
McManus, who moved into punditry after a career in which he played for the likes of Hibs, Dundee and Colorado Rapids, shared the tweet and said: “Is there any need for that picture & rhetoric?
“No doubt coming from the same people who stood behind the manager when he was getting bullets sent in the post & attacked in the street/during matches.
“This is from actual so-called Celtic fans too. Can’t get my head around it. Poor.”
Speaking ahead of his side’s trip to face Kilmarnock, Lennon was quoted by Record Sport as saying: “Let’s not kid ourselves on. With what we’ve achieved over the past decade or so, we’ve fallen way short of the standards we set for the players and what the supporters expect as well.
“We can’t hide away from that. There has to be a positive reaction and if I don’t get that, that’s on the players.”
