Man City kicked off pre-season last night with a 2-0 win over Preston North End.
Goals from Riyad Mahrez and City academy star Samuel Edozie secured the victory for Pep Guardiola’s side in a comfortable evening for the Manchester side.
With the Premier League champions no longer playing sister side ES Troyes AC, this will be the club’s only pre-season game before their Community Shield clash against Leicester City.
Indeed, the fixture was a good opportunity for a number of the club’s youth stars to impress both the fans and Guardiola.
However, Zack Steffen played the majority of the pre-season match for Match City.
The £50,000-a-week USMNT international started both the first and second half, with Steffen coming off just past the hour mark.
However, injury to academy keeper Cieran Slicker meant the former Columbus Crew star had to be brought back on with City out of substitutes.

Wilst this moment in its own right was pretty extraordinary, it wasn’t what got City fans talking on social media.
Moreover, Steffen’s stunning first-half 35-yard sprint to make a vital clearance to deny Preston a golden chance to score.
Indeed, with Ederson Morales doing similar actions, supporters on social media loved that Steffen had seemingly taken vital lessons from his Brazilian counterpart.
Here’s what some Man City fans had to say about Steffen’s pre-season clearance against Preston on Twitter…
