William Saliba is proving to be quite a revelation during his loan away from Arsenal, it seems.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta decided once again to loan out the 20-year-old defender after deeming him surplus to requirements in North London.
It didn’t go down well among Gunners fans – and particularly not when the team had lost their first three Premier League games of the season – and it’s clear that Arteta might’ve made a mistake.
Saliba impressed for Marseille once again on Sunday as the Ligue 1 side beat Rennes 2-0.
According to WhoScored, Saliba managed a passing success of 98.5 percent and won two aerial duels.
Here’s how some Arsenal fans reacted to what they saw from the big centre-back on Sunday evening:
Improvement
Yes Arsenal are getting a little better, which means it reflects less poorly on Arteta everytime Saliba has a stormer.
But it’s worth pointing out that although they’ve recorded back-to-back Premier League wins, they were against Norwich and Burnley, who have a combined one point from five games.
In other words, Arteta’s side beat very poor opposition – and both victories were 1-0 – so Arsenal aren’t quite out of the woods yet and everytime Saliba impresses in France, it’s going to make the supporters wonder if the Spaniard should’ve kept hold of him.
