Lyle Taylor has seemingly told Tottenham defender Djed Spence on Instagram to cheer up after he stated that he looked ‘so angry’ whilst posing for a team photo with England U21s.

Whilst game time has been hard to come by for Djed Spence, since his move to Spurs in the summer, he earned some much-needed minutes on international duty this past week.

The 22-year-old has only played one minute of football this term, ironically enough against Forest when Antonio Conte’s side recorded a 2-0 win at the City Ground.

Is it really a surprise? Not at all. That lack of game time was a worry for Spence when he won promotion to the Premier League with Forest and headed to the capital via the Riverside.

Nonetheless, Spence played 72 minutes as England’s U21s beat Italy’s U21s last Thursday, but he was an unused substitute against Germany on Tuesday.

After the game, Spence posted on Instagram a ‘successful international break’, with Forest striker Lyle Taylor posting in the comments section ‘so angry,” added with laughing emojis.

JANUARY MOVE ON THE CARD ALREADY FOR SPENCE

Spence can’t afford to be warming the bench after he produced his best season to date, he is at a stage of his career where he is supposed to be progressing, not stagnating.

Come January, Spurs will need to loan the young right-back out, whether it’s to a Premier League club or a Championship side, he will need minutes.

Other than the League Cup, and injuries to the right wing-back role, it doesn’t seem as though he will push ahead of those ahead of him in the pecking order.

Emerson Royal is the main guy, whilst Matt Doherty, who is coming back to full fitness, is the back-up option, and even Dejan Kulusevski has earned more minutes in that role this season than Spence.
