Aston Villa will be without Danny Ings for Friday’s huge Premier League clash against Southampton due to injury.
As reported by the Athletic, Dean Smith will be missing his £25m summer signing ahead of Villa’s trip down to Ings’ former side. Douglas Luiz and Bertrand Traore are also out with injury.
Villa are on a terrible run of form, with the Midlands side losing their past four Premier League matches. Smith’s side are desperate for a win, and injury to Ings will be a huge blow.
The striker joined Villa from Southampton over the summer. And since joining, Ings has done fairly well under Smith, with the former Liverpool star bagging three goals in nine Premier League fixtures.
With Villa needing three points to quell early threats of relegation, the loss of Ings through injury will be huge for the Birmingham-based club. Moreover, it could force Smith to change tactics.
Ollie Watkins, who was the club’s top scorer last season, will likely lead the line as the sole striker with Ings now out with injury.
