Jody Morris says Bournemouth have been ‘smart’ for hijacking a transfer deal from Leeds United for Norwich City right-back, Max Aarons.

It never rains, but pours at Leeds United, that’s why they have ended back in the Championship, with transfer drama still following them around.

Daniel Farke thought he was going to re-unite with Max Aarons after working with him at Carrow Road, it was about to be signed, sealed and delivered, up until Bournemouth swooped in at the last minute and now he is going to be a Premier League player.

It’s a bitter blow for Leeds because he would have been a top-class purchase at right-back, with former Derby coach Morris pointing out that ‘nothing is done’ until the ink is dry, as he told The Transfer Show on Sky Sports (09/08/23 at 7:10 pm).

You can’t blame Aarons because the 23-year-old has only played for Norwich during his senior career and has gone up and down like a yo-yo.

The time has come for him to move on, and whilst he thought that new home was at Elland Road, well, it’s with Premier League minnows, Bournemouth, instead.

On if it’s smart business or naughty from Bournemouth: “No, it’s smart business,” said Morris.

“Until anything is signed and the ink is dry, then nothing is done.”

Leeds have to move on…

These next few weeks are huge for Leeds and Farke because they will dictate how their push for promotion goes.

They drew their opening Championship game of the season to Cardiff City and then narrowly saw off Shrewsbury Town in the League Cup last night.

Things aren’t working smoothly yet, but if they get things right in the transfer market, in terms of getting players in and keeping them, then it could be a very good season ahead.
