Jack Wilshere has warned West Ham on Sky Sports News (28/10/20 at 8:30 am) that they have to ‘deal’ with ‘big teams’ coming in and trying to take Declan Rice from ‘smaller clubs’ such as themselves.
On transfer deadline day, Wilshere parted ways with the Hammers after struggling for game time and he shared how much he rates Rice as a player.
Rice is a key figure for David Moyes in the middle of the park and his game is only growing year in and year out.
Whilst Wilshere struggled to share time with him in the middle of the park, he did see first hand what he was like in training and he feels a man of his talents is going to attract interest on a regular basis.
“I have said it before how much I rate him as a player and how much I enjoyed playing with and training with him and being around him,” Wilshere told Sky Sports.
“He is very important for West Ham that they kept him there this year. There is always going to be the big teams that come to try and take Declan Rice from smaller clubs.
“That’s something that West Ham are going to deal with. But they have got him this year.”

After a summer full of drama and quite dreadful decision-making from those in the East London boardroom, the fans will be pleased that they didn’t take it further by selling Rice.
If Moyes is to move West Ham forward then players like Rice need to stay put at the London Stadium because any other decision will only weaken them.
Regardless of what is or isn’t speculated, Rice has proven, both on and off the field, that he is committed to the cause at West Ham and he is fighting every sweat to ensure they rise rather than stagnate.
