The right back had a near perfect game till then, setting up Harry Kane for Tottenham’s opening goal with a trademark accurate cross into the box which the 24-year-old gladly headed into the goal.
His defensive contribution in the game would have proved his doubters wrong, especially when he cleared the ball off Mario Mandžukić’s head when the Juventus forward was poised to head home after a lightning quick break from the Serie A champions.
The right-back’s injury means that Tottenham have 20-year-old Kyle Walker-Peters as the only recognised right back in the first team.
Given, the England international was pictured in crutches in the second half might suggest the injury can keep him from action at least for the first game of the season against Newcastle.
Spurs fans, understandably weren’t the happiest bunch seeing his injury.
