Riedewald who started the Europa League final against eventual champions Manchester United as left back can also play as a centerback or a defensive midfielder. De Telegraaf reckon the 20-year-old’s relationship with Frank de Boer (the Crystal Palace manager) tipped the scale towards the Eagles.
The defender, who was handed his debut by the now Palace manager, has gone on to make three appearances for the Dutch national team. His signing (yet to be confirmed by either of the clubs or player), would make him the first through the door this summer for the London club.
Quick and extremely confident on the ball, the youngster would be a welcome addition to the squad. Moreover, he will provide stiff competition to fellow countryman Patrick van Aanholt, and backup to the likes of Scott Dann and James Tomkins.
