Roy Keane has criticised Liverpool central defender Virgil van Dijk on Sky Sports Premier League (8:53pm, August 22, 2022) for the role he played in Manchester United’s first goal at Old Trafford on Monday evening.

The former Manchester United star believes that Van Dijk should have done better for the goal that Jadon Sancho scored in the first half.

Sancho put the Red Devils in the lead in the Premier League game in the 16th minute.

It was James Milner who went to close down the England international winger before he took his shot, not Van Dijk.

Keane said about Van Dijk on Sky Sports Premier League (8:53pm, August 22, 2022): “I think he has been sloppy this season. Van Dijk, he has got to get out. He has not moved his feet.”

Disappointing

In our opinion, Liverpool central defender Virgil van Dijk had a poor game at the back against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Monday evening.

Liverpool as a team had a bad game, and Van Dijk was one of the players who failed to make a good impression.

While the Dutchman did make some good tackles and interceptions, he did look sloppy on occasions and could not always read the United attackers like he normally does.

Like Liverpool, Van Dijk has not started the season particularly well, but we are still in August, so there is no need to panic.

Yet.
