Newcastle United could be set to sign the Leicester City striker on loan.

Newcastle United have been on the lookout for a new striker throughout the transfer window and it appears that they may finally have found a player who suits their needs.
As reported by Sky Sports, Newcastle have agreed to sign Islam Slimani on loan from Leicester City.
Although Slimani is currently sidelined with a thigh problem that is expected to keep him out for two weeks, the deal, if it goes ahead, would be a huge positive for Newcastle.

Slimani may have only scored 13 goals in 46 games for Leicester but he would provide Rafael Benitez’s with a focal point up front.
The possibility of Slimani playing alongside Dwight Gayle is rather intriguing as the pair would be capable of dovetailing to excellent effect.

Gayle has scored just three times this season but would benefit from having a player such as Slimani regularly deployed alongside him.
It is clear that Newcastle need to improve significantly if they are to have a chance of staying up – they are currently in 15th place in the Premier League and above the drop zone only on goal difference.
Bringing in Slimani is a positive move and it could also help to get the best out of Gayle.
