Everton fans have taken to Twitter to react after Fotospor revealed that Fatih Terim has been offered the chance to replace Carlo Ancelotti.
What’s the story?
Well, the Turkish news outlet believe that Everton have made an offer to the 67-year-old, who could be sacked after Galatasaray’s Presidential elections.
Terim also has an offer from the Qatar national team, as well as from Ligue 1 champions Lille.
Persian-language TV channel Manoto, owned by Nazenin – the wife of Farhad Moshiri – were even seen discussing Everton’s offer.
Interestingly, the TV show claimed that Moshiri asked Everton’s Director of Football, Marcel Brands, to meet with the experienced manager.
Presumably, that meeting went well, as Terim has now been offered the chance to fill the managerial vacancy at Goodison Park.
Everton fans don’t sound too happy
Understandably, the Everton fans on Twitter are a bit baffled.
While Terim has a God-like status in Turkey, he is very much an unknown quantity outside of his homeland.
He has only ever managed outside of Turkey twice, when in charge of Fiorentina and AC Milan in the early 2000’s.
It seems like Terim didn’t enjoy his time in Europe, as he left Italy in 2001 to return to Turkey, despite only arriving in 2000.
It would be a risky appointment from Bill Kenwright and Moshiri, to say the very least.
