‘Slightly concerned’: Klopp admits ‘outstanding’ Liverpool ace played through pain last night

Jurgen Klopp has hailed the performance of Neco Williams and Curtis Jones to beIN SPORTS after Liverpool beat Wolves 4-0 in the Premier League on Sunday at Anfield.

The German shared that they were ‘slightly concerned’ with Jones because he was in ‘some pain’ in the first half, but Klopp hailed the ‘outstanding’ Liverpool talent for playing through that.

Jones ended up playing the entire match for Liverpool and ensured the 2000 fans inside Anfield enjoyed a quite special return.

If there has been one big positive which has come out of Liverpool’s recent injury problems then it’s the performances of Williams and Jones, who impressed their manager last night.

“Neco played a top game,” said Klopp. “Curtis played an outstanding game. He felt some pain here in the first half already and we were slightly concerned. But he played through the pain.

“With the atmosphere and the people back in the stadium, it was a perfect night.”

It just goes to show the faith Klopp has in Jones when he is comfortable in the attack-minded technician playing in his midfield.

Klopp could have easily turned to a more experienced player when he was chopping and changing his team because of injuries.

But even with players returning, Jones is still in that workman-like midfield and it’s another step up in the Anfield academy products career.
