West Ham United decided to loan out Toni Martinez in the January transfer window, but he has made minimal impact in Spain.

Toni Martinez has proven David Moyes and Slaven Bilic right by not picking him for West Ham United’s first-team.
West Ham fans were left calling for Martinez to be included, with his form at development squad level catching the eye.
Under both Bilic and Moyes, the Hammers have failed to find a prolific striker, and there was a hope from supporters that Martinez could fulfil that role.

However, the Spanish forward was constantly overlooked, much to the frustration of the London Stadium crowd.
Martinez was eventually shipped out on loan in January, but his minimal impact in the Spanish second tier rather proves West Ham’s managers were right.
Martinez has failed to score in any of his first five appearances for Real Valladolid, and has already been dropped to the substitutes’ bench.

Indeed Martinez has been busier picking up cards than goals, with the forward picking up four yellows in just 104 minutes of game time.
The loan spell has proven that Martinez is not yet up to starting in the Premier League.
And Moyes can rest assured that his initially controversial decision to send Martinez out on loan rather than giving him a first-team chance has turned out for the best for West Ham.
