West Ham United are set to face Sunderland in their next match.
Slaven Bilic has told West Ham United’s official website that he could yet change tactics for his side’s upcoming match against Sunderland.
Bilic has generally utilised a 4-2-3-1 system since taking charge at West Ham, but he altered his tactic last weekend against Crystal Palace.
West Ham changed to a 3-5-2 formation, and it had the desired impact, as Bilic’s side picked up the three points at Selhurst Park.
West Ham’s victory against Palace owed much to the dynamism of Aaron Cresswell, who played as a left-wing back in the contest.
However, Cresswell’s suspension means that he is not available to face Sunderland.
And Bilic has suggested that not being able to pick Cresswell could lead to him reverting to a system which incorporates a flat back four again.
“That formation, it’s not only because we wanted it to be more solid, but it lets our best players be on the ball in the best positions,” he said.
“If we stay in that formation depends on personnel we can use in the game.
“Of course, because Cresswell can’t play, it will affect it. It’s not ideal, but we are going to see; we have a few options.”
West Ham’s win over Sunderland has lifted them up to 14th, after what has been a disappointing start to he season.
The Black Cats have been in even worse form than Bilic’s side and travel to the London Stadium having failed to pick up a win all season.
