West Ham United were beaten 4-2 by West Bromwich Albion at the weekend.
Slaven Bilic has admitted to West Ham United’s official website that the fact his side had 70% of the possession against West Bromwich Albion at the weekend is ‘misleading’.
West Ham dominated the ball at the Hawthorns, but they were still well short of their best as they crashed to a 4-2 defeat.
The Hammers are now stuck in 19th place in the Premier League table, and Bilic admits that his side have a problem that needs rectifying.
“We had 70 per cent of possession but that was misleading, because we know they are a team that don’t have the ball and like to break quickly,” Bilic said.
“There were some good moments and goals in the second half, but we want action and not reaction.
“It is not a good situation for us at the moment and we have a problem that we have to solve. I have to do everything as the manager to turn this around, that’s my job.”
West Ham are under serious pressure to start getting their season back on track, after a dire start.
The Hammers went into the match against West Brom on the back of a 4-2 defeat to Watford, but their defensive issues were still on full display against Tony Pulis’ side.
West Brom actually had a 4-0 lead at one stage of the contest, but goals from Michail Antonio and Manuel Lanzini reduced the damage to West Ham’s goal difference.
The Hammers are next in action against Accrington Stanley in the League Cup, and they will be determined to protect themselves against a major upset.
