West Ham United were beaten 3-2 by Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday afternoon.
West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic has told the Daily Mail that his side proved they can play anyone in the loss to Tottenham Hotspur.
The Hammers travelled to White Hart Lane for Saturday’s late kick-off looking to pick up a morale-boosting victory.
They appeared to be on course to do just that after a Manuel Lanzini penalty in the second half had given them a 2-1 lead.
However, two late goals from Harry Kane ended up breaking their hearts, seeing Mauricio Pochettino’s team leave with all three points.
It was hugely demoralising for Bilic and his men, who now face Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool in their next three games, and Bilic says they have proved they can play against anyone despite the defeat.
“We showed we can play, no matter who we are playing against,” he told the Daily Mail.
“It is a tough schedule, that’s why it was important to win or at least get something from this game. But we don’t have to be afraid of them. There are a lot of positives to take into these games.”
West Ham will certainly need to prove they can play against anyone with their current situation looking a worrying one.
After the loss to Spurs, they find themselves 17th in the table and just a point outside the relegation zone after 12 games of the campaign.
It means they are in desperate need of a win and beating one of the three teams they have coming up could prove to be the boost they need to turn things around prior to the hectic festive period.
