Ahead of West Ham’s Premier League clash with Tottenham, Slaven Bilic says that Spurs’ full backs have been crucial to their team’s success this season.
While the likes of Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen, and Dele Alli have stolen the show, Bilic is more impressed with the efforts of Tottenham full-backs.
The Hammers boss says that the full-back role at Tottenham is very demanding, and that is why Pochettino has been rotating his players.
Right back Kyle Walker and left back Danny Rose have both been impressive this season, but Pochettino has given Kieran Trippier and Ben Davies a decent number of games.
Bilic says that every Premier League side has four full-backs. However, Spurs stand out as they have four “really good” players covering the positions.

“The demands on their full-backs are high and that is why Mauricio Pochettino is rotating them. Okay, now Danny Rose is injured, but even before that players such as Ben Davies and Kieran Trippier were getting a decent number of games, which shows you how demanding are those positions,” Bilic wrote in his column for The Standard.
“Every position is crucial but if we are talking about sheer intensity, it is Tottenham’s full-backs who make the difference. Every Premier League club have four full-backs but Spurs have four really good ones.”
Pochettino likes to play attacking football where players are expected to press high up the pitch. Both Walker and Rose have been excellent going forward this season, and were equally brilliant in defending.
What has really made the difference is the back up players have stepped to the plate and performed at a high level. The likes of Trippier and Davies have grabbed the opportunities with both hands when presented and performed their task with great aplomb.
