West Bromwich Albion were interested in signing Diafra Sakho from West Ham United in the summer transfer window.
West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic has written in The London Evening Standard that Diafra Sakho will not be sold in the January transfer window.
Bilic has revealed that West Bromwich Albion were interested in signing the 26-year-old striker in the summer transfer window.
The West Ham manager has also stated that he has spoken to the Senegal international, and that the striker is now ready to give his best for the team.
“It is well documented he could have joined West Brom during the summer but he did not pass the medical,” Bilic wrote about Sakho in The London Evening Standard.
“All I can say is that I have spoken with him. He is our player, he is under contract, he knows I rate him highly and we both know that things change very quickly in football.
“Okay, he wanted to leave then and there could have been money for us but we are not thinking now to put him in the shop window.
“No matter what he wanted to do then, we expect him to play well — to help us and to help him be in a better position next season, to perhaps stay here and sign another contract.”
Sakho has yet to make an appearance in the Premier League this season due to fitness issues.
The former Metz player is not exactly a great striker, but the 26-year-old can contribute with important goals from time to time.
The Hammers need Sakho to start scoring goals soon, and hopefully for the fans, once he plays a few games, he will start to get into some form.
The London outfit are struggling in the Premier League at the moment and are in danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.
West Ham will return to action on Saturday evening when they take on Tottenham Hotspur away from home at White Hart Lane in the Premier League.
