Slaven Bilic responds when asked if Tottenham are the Premier League’s best team

West Ham United host Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League this weekend.

West Ham United boss Slaven Bilic has told Football.London that he thinks opponents Tottenham Hotspur are the best team in the Premier League – but the Hammers must find ways to hurt them.

The Hammers play host to Spurs this weekend, with both teams coming off midweek Carabao Cup wins, after West Ham beat Bolton Wanderers and Tottenham defeated Barnsley.

West Ham may have lost their first three games of the Premier League season, but appear to be turning a corner having beaten Huddersfield Town and drawn with West Bromwich Albion in their last two Premier League games.

Saturday’s game against Spurs presents an even greater challenge though, with Mauricio Pochettino’s men in fine form away from home this season.

2-0 and 3-0 wins over Newcastle United and Everton respectively have seen Tottenham thrive on the road, compared to just two points from three home games at Wembley.

Pochettino’s side will be looking for another away win this weekend as they look to establish themselves as contenders for the Premier League title, having already slipped five points off top spot.

Ahead of Saturday’s game, West Ham boss Bilic has been asked whether he thinks Spurs are the best team in the Premier League – and he told Football.London that whilst there are a number of top teams in the Premier League, he thinks Spurs may well be the best of the bunch.

Bilic added that doing the ‘basic things’ won’t be enough to beat Spurs, meaning West Ham must to extra things to hurt Pochettino’s men – just as they did in the 1-0 win over Spurs at the London Stadium back in May.

“You have a few teams, it varies but I still think they are, yes,” said Bilic. “They play the most attractive football and are definitely one of the contenders to win the league.”

“I know we have to be complete, do basic things. That might not be enough against Spurs but we will also have to do some extra things on the pitch to hurt them,” he added.
