West Ham United have one of the league’s in-form players amongst their ranks.
Speaking to reporters in the aftermath of his side’s impressive 3-1 win at Middlesbrough, Hammers boss Slaven Bilic compared in-form striker Andy Carroll to one of the Premier League’s most feared target men, as quoted by the club’s official website.
The 28-year-old has been immense for West Ham over the past couple of weeks, helping his side earn back-to-back victories.
And Bilic raved about Carroll’s ability in general, telling reporters how his physical prowess can lead to opposition players being helpless when defending against him, as quoted by WHUFC.com:
West Ham United’s Andy Carroll celebrates
“When I was playing at centre back I always felt it was up to me rather than down to the centre forward when the ball comes in. With Andy it’s different, whoever plays centre back it’s more up to Andy. It’s unbelievable. I played with Duncan Ferguson at Everton, and marked him when I was at West Ham, and he is the only one I can compare. He’s got everything, he’s tall, he attacks the ball, he has great timing. Everything.”

After such a turbulent week or so, what with the Dimitri Payet saga continuing to rumble on, the Hammers have responded in the best way possible, after taking six points from two games, and Carroll’s displays have been the spark that helped light the fire.
And Bilic, along with the West Ham fans, will be hoping that the former Newcastle United and Liverpool striker can stay fit for the remainder of the season.
If he is able to do that, the Hammers have every chance of fighting for a Europa League spot again this term.
