West Ham United defender Winston Reid is set to miss their next match, after picking up a red card at White Hart Lane.

Slaven Bilic has told West Ham United’s official website that Winston Reid played really well against Tottenham Hotspur.

Reid claimed two assists during West Ham’s 3-2 defeat against Spurs on Saturday, and generally looked solid in defence throughout the contest.

The New Zealand international first volleyed the ball into Michail Antonio’s path, with the winger heading home from close range.

And he was then brought down in the penalty area by Vincent Janssen, with Manuel Lanzini going on to convert the spot kick.

When Lanzini scored it appeared that West Ham were on their way to three points, but a late collapse saw them slip to a 3-2 defeat.

To make matters worse for the Hammers, Reid was harshly sent off in the final stages, when he challenged for a header.

And Bilic said: “The red card is another blow for us because Winston was really good today – excellent in anticipating the ball when they played through the middle. It was a bit harsh and now we lose him for one game.”

West Ham’s defeat to Spurs has left them looking nervously over their shoulders, with Bilic’s side currently in 17th place.

The Hammers are just one point above the drop zone, and they have a tough run of fixtures coming up over the next few weeks.
