West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic has revealed to The Express that he wants to sign two or three new players in the summer transfer window.

Bilic believes that the Hammers do not need to sign any squad players, and seems to be looking for players who would improve the starting lineup.

“If we are all fit and available then we have good players,” Bilic told The Express. “We will spend on two or three players.

“We don’t need squad players because this season has shown that even now with 10 injures we will play Liverpool on Sunday with a good team and we also have a few players out on loan that we can use. But we have got to get the players who can make a difference.”

Striker a must

What West Ham need more than anything else for next season is a proven goalscorer. The Hammers have to find a striker who will get them 15 to 20 goals in the Premier League.

Andy Carroll is a striker who could potentially score 15 goals in the league, but the former Newcastle United and Liverpool man is injury-prone.

Could Daniel Sturridge be a good signing for the Hammers? The Liverpool striker is a proven goalscorer in the Premier League, but the former Chelsea man has had injury issues.

Jermain Defoe will probably be a better option. The England international striker is unlikely to remain at Sunderland next season, as the Black Cats have been relegated to the Championship.
