West Ham United are in the midst of an alarming slide towards the relegation zone.

Under-fire Hammers boss Slaven Bilic spoke to the club’s official website after his side’s bitterly disappointing 2-1 defeat at Hull City on Saturday, and opened up on the current atmosphere inside the West Ham dressing room.

The Croatian has been the target of heavy criticism from pundits and fans alike recently, with his side slumping to a woeful run of form that has seen them take just two points from their last six Premier League games.

The East London outfit now find themselves sitting in 14th position in the table, worryingly just six points clear of the Tigers in 18th place.

And Bilic explained to WHUFC.com how it is impossible for the current mood in the Hammers dressing room to be anything other than despondent:

“I am positive, we are very positive of course. I can’t lie and say that after the game the atmosphere was brilliant in the dressing room. Of course it wasn’t, after four defeats in a row.”

Things don’t get any easier for West Ham, with a trip to Arsenal next up on the agenda, followed by a home match against a resurgent Swansea City side, who themselves are just five points adrift of the Hammers.

And anything less than a return of three points from those games could see their situation deteriorate even further still come next weekend.
