West Ham United striker Diafra Sakho scored the winner, as Slaven Bilic’s side beat Swansea City yesterday.
Sakho is yet to make a Premier League start this term, but he was their match-winner in Bilic’s side’s most recent match.
Sakho came off the substitutes’ bench to score in the winner in West Ham’s final minutes of their match against Swansea City.
And Bilic has suggested that Sakho is being handed a chance at West Ham now, because he is putting real effort into training.
“He is training good and that’s why he is playing in most of the games, because he looks good and sharp in training,” the Croatian boss said. “That’s why he came on, on Saturday, and he did his job. That’s why he’s in my plans.
“I spoke to him a couple of times but it’s more about him. His problem was that, the whole of last season, he was out and he was injured and had problems and an operation. Now he feels fit and he is training better and more regularly and, because he is training better, I am using him and that is balancing his head.”
Sakho is still yet to make a Premier League start this season, but he could be handed more of a chance if he continues to impress in training over the international break.
Sakho has scored three goals this term, despite a limited number of minutes, and still seems to have a value for West Ham.
The problem for the Senegalese front man, is that Bilic has some good options up-front – with Javier Hernandez and Andy Carroll both seemingly ahead of him in the pecking order.
West Ham are next in action in two weekends’ time, when they take on Burnley at Turf Moor.
