Sam Byram has not played for West Ham United since October due to injury.

Slaven Bilic has told West Ham United’s official website that Sam Byram has impressed him in training recently.

Byram has been struggling with a hamstring injury since the start of October, but he has been back in first-team training recently.

And Bilic has been impressed by the right-back’s displays, with the 23-year-old back in starting contention now.

“Sam started to train with us on Wednesday and he is looking good,” Bilic said.

“We are going to see about his match fitness because he lacks some of it, but it is good to have him back in training.”

Byram’s absence has been a blow for West Ham, as they have been short of options at right-back.

The former Leeds United man could now be back in the Hammers’ squad on New Year’s Eve, when they take on Leicester City.

West Ham could also be set to welcome back Reece Oxford and James Collins to their first-team squad in the near future, as the injured pair are almost back to full fitness.

“Reece Oxford starts training for the first time in five or six weeks because of his ankle so the players are coming back,” Bilic added.

“Next week we should have James Collins back as well. A few of them are going to be back in action.”

West Ham are currently in 11th place in the Premier League table, after winning their last three matches in succession.
