West Ham United took another step towards Premier League survival with a decent point against Everton at the London Stadium.

Slaven Bilic has explained to West Ham’s official club website that he told the players after their clash with Everton on Saturday that he could not ask anymore of them and felt that they deserved the win.

The Hammers took another step towards guaranteeing Premier League survival as they secured a goalless draw with the Toffees at the London Stadium.

And they did it with a performance where they were arguably the much better side on show, having 11 more attempts on goal including the match’s only three attempts on target (via BBC Sport).

And Bilic was delighted with what he saw from his players, even if they perhaps deserved a different result against the high-flyers.

“I am really pleased with the performance,” he told the club’s official website. “We were expecting a difficult game and all that comes with that, but I told the guys after the game that I simply couldn’t have asked for more from them.

“They were there with their solidity, composure, effort, determination and dedication, so top marks for them. I’m pleased with the performance and pleased with the point in one way, but we were looking for all three. If any team deserved three points, it was us.”

Despite missing out on the three points, Bilic will be encouraged by the performance after the disappointment of failing to beat hapless Sunderland last weekend.

Their recent form has certainly been disappointing, but Bilic will be hoping that they now continue to show signs of improvement in the coming weeks to give them the best chance of taking some momentum into next season.
