West Ham United beat Swansea City 4-1 at the Liberty Stadium on Boxing Day.

Slaven Bilic has told Sky Sports that he was desperate for Andre Ayew to score for West Ham United against Swansea City.

Ayew opened the scoring the Hammers as they picked up a 4-1 win at the Liberty Stadium on Boxing Day.

And Bilic admits that he was delighted to see the Ghanian striker hit the back of the net during the contest.

“If you had asked before the game who I would love to score for the future, then I would say Andre definitely,” Bilic said.

“Not because it was against Swansea, but what we expect from him in the future – and what he expects.

“It was hard for him because for West Ham it is a massive price tag and then he got a very bad injury straight away.

“But he kept working and he’s now in a really good position to be the Ayew from last season and from Marseille.”

Ayew has struggled for fitness since moving to West Ham last summer, but he appears to be returning to full health now.

West Ham added further goals through Winston Reid, Michail Antonio and Andy Carroll to seal the victory.
