West Ham United boss Slaven Bilic has told The Express that he is delighted to have drawn Chelsea in the fourth round of the League Cup.

The Irons host their London rivals at The Olympic Stadium on either October 25 or 26 as Bilic looks to lead West Ham into the quarter-final of the competition.

United booked their spot in the fourth round in dramatic fashion last night as a last-gasp free kick from Dimitri Payet secured a 1-0 home win over Accrington Stanley.

It perhaps papered over the cracks and it maybe the latest example which proves that the Hammers are nowhere near at their best under the Croat this season.

In the Premier League, West Ham are 18th in the table after winning one and losing four of their five games – a run of form nothing like the heroics they showed last term under the ex-Besiktas manager.

Nevertheless, there is over a month between their visit of Chelsea – who already beat them at Stamford Bridge this season – and Bilic is adamant that United will improve in between now and then.

“Chelsea at home is a great game,” Bilic said to The Express. “Let’s say that it’s a very good thing for us is that we’re playing at home and that it’s a one-off tie.

“I’m expecting us to make improvements in the meantime. We have to earn a couple of good results and then the confidence will come back to us.”
