West Ham United boss Slaven Bilic has told the Daily Mail that he has held ‘big meetings’ with his squad – and told Mark Noble to take the squad out for a meal this week.

The Hammers take on Middlesbrough at the London Stadium this weekend, and are desperately looking for a victory after a dismal start to the season.

Sunday’s 3-0 defeat to Southampton means that West Ham have lost all but one of their six Premier League games so far this season, and have conceded a whopping 11 goals in their last three games.

Fans are growing restless after the dismal start, and manager Bilic is coming under increasing pressure despite finishing in seventh place in the Premier League last season.

Ahead of this weekend’s game with Middlesbrough, Bilic has been speaking to the Daily Mail about the club’s situation, and commented on his attempts to keep spirits high in the West Ham camp.

Bilic admitted that he has had big meetings over the last few weeks, and drew particular attention to a meeting held earlier this week.

Bilic claims that he spoke to West Ham captain Mark Noble, and told him to take the West Ham squad out for a meal in something akin to team bonding – and suggested that it has been ‘definitely good’ for players to do such a thing for around 50 years.

“I told the players to go. I told Mark — we had a big meeting,” said Bilic. “We have a few big meetings, of course, in the last three weeks. After the last one, after Southampton, I told Mark to take the boys out for a meal, to go together.”

“It’s definitely good. It was good 50 years ago, it was good 20 years ago, 10 years ago. It was good in any job you do. Again, if it’s between some friends, I’d say normal,” he added.
