The 26-year-old has been hugely impressive for the Premier League side this season.
West Ham boss Slaven Bilic believes that Aaron Cresswell’s form has been strong enough to suggest that he deserves a call-up to the England squad, Sky Sports reports.
The 26-year-old has been in excellent form this season, having missed just one of the Hammers’ games in the Premier League this term. And Bilic believes that, along with midfielder Mark Noble, Cresswell deserves to be on Roy Hodgson’s radar.
“I was manager of a national team for six years,” he told Sky Sports. “People would say this and that from the other clubs, and I didn’t mind it, but I don’t like to interfere like that
“But what I can say is that I haven’t seen many midfielders who are having a better season than Mark Noble is having.
“And it’s not only Mark Noble. I haven’t seen a better left-back than Aaron Cresswell. So they should at least be mentioned
Since Ashley Cole’s international career came to an end in 2014, the Three Lions have struggled to settle on a regular option on the left-hand side of defence, with Ryan Bertrand, Kieran Gibbs, Leighton Baines and Luke Shaw all getting a chance.
However, with none of the four players being able to establish themselves in the side – although Shaw has arguably been unlucky due to his long-term spell on the sidelines – Cresswell has surely earned an opportunity.
The former Ipswich Town defender has been integral to the Irons’ success this season. As well as undertaking his defensive duties, his ability to offer an extra option in attack has made him invaluable to Bilic’s side. He has proved on numerous occasions that he can put in wonderfully testing crosses that ask several questions of the opposition.
And Bilic – who is no stranger to the international scene – believes that he would have no problem replicating that form for England.
