Hammers hero Manuel Lanzini spoke to reporters after his side’s thrilling 1-0 victory over title-chasing Spurs last night, and lavished praise upon Slaven Bilic, who has been the target of heavy criticism in recent months, as quoted by the club’s official website.
The mercurial Argentine was at the centre of everything good that West Ham did last night, but Bilic deserves so much credit for the manner in which he had his side motivated and bang up for the contest from the very first whistle.
Recent reports had suggested that the Hammers’ results against Tottenham and Liverpool would determine the Croatian’s future (the Guardian), but any kind of uncertainty hanging over his head will surely be swept away with last nights fantastic performance, and more importantly, the end result.
And Lanzini, who Bilic signed on a permanent deal in the summer of 2016, told reporters how the West Ham boss talked with the team on a regular basis leading up to last night’s clash, as quoted by WHUFC.com:

“It’s a great win for the manager who is a great coach, and he talked with us a great deal before the game. He is amazing. The fans also were amazing and they are always like this. They are singing all of the time and they were perfect tonight as they always are.”
With the cloud surrounding West Ham now lifted, and their home stadium woes firmly put to bed, they can look forward to next season, and with some smart summer acquisitions, a place inside the Europa League qualifying spots would not be an unrealistic target.
