West Ham United defender Sam Byram is set to miss a a sizeable chunk of action after tearing his hamstring.

Slaven Bilic has told the London Evening Standard that the injury which West Ham United defender Sam Byram picked up was a strange one.
Byram tore his hamstring in the early stages of West Ham’s last match before the international break against Middlesbrough.
The Hammers’ medical team cannot work out why the injury happened so early on in the contest.

And Bilic said: “Recently we have picked up a couple of muscle injuries and the hamstring tear to Sam Byram so early in the game against Middlesbrough two weeks ago was a really strange one.
“The medical team here at the club are looking to see if there are any specific reasons for this but it is not because of the pitches at Rush Green. I know there was some criticism of those at our previous training base at Chadwell Heath but they are good at our new headquarters.”

Byram’s absence is a blow for West Ham, at a time when their injury problems are fairly severe.
The Hammers have a number of players on the treatment table, with the medical department having to work hard at the moment.
West Ham have been boosted by the return to Aaron Cresswell to full health over the international break, though.
Cresswell has not played at all this season, but the left-back is set to feature in West Ham’s match against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park tomorrow.
