West Ham United started with Michail Antonio up front against Middlesbrough.
Slaven Bilic has admitted to Essex Live that he is not satisfied with the performances that West Ham United’s attacking players have put in over recent weeks.
West Ham have generally used new signings Simone Zaza and Jonathan Calleri up-front so far this season, with Diafra Sahko and Andy Carroll out injured.
However, both Zaza and Calleri have looked off the pace throughout the campaign so far.
The West Ham summer recruits have not scored a goal in the Premier League yet, and Bilic decided to play Michail Antonio up-front in his side’s latest match.
Antonio lead the line for the Hammers, during their 1-1 draw with Middlesbrough, and Bilic admits that he was forced in to playing the former Nottingham Forest man out of position.
“We are not happy with the way our forwards have played in the last few games and he was a good solution in our point of view and he did well, because with his physical ability, with his pace and his work rate and that is what he was doing in the first half,” Bilic said.
Antonio has been in good form so far this season, but he was unable to get on the scoresheet on Saturday.
Instead, West Ham relied on Dimitri Payet to score their goal, which rescued them a point against Boro.
West Ham are still stuck down in 18th place in the Premier League table, and have just one win to their name this season.
