West Ham United were beaten 5-1 by Arsenal at the London Stadium yesterday.

Slaven Bilic has told Sky Sports that he wants to say sorry to West Ham United fans, for his side’s performance against Arsenal.

West Ham crashed to a 5-1 defeat against the Gunners yesterday, and they were abject throughout the contest.

The Hammers were second best from the offset, as Arsenal picked up an easy win in the London derby.

And a dejected Bilic said: “I’m very disappointed, frustrated, and humiliated. I want to say sorry to the fans and to the club. It was really bad.

“I feel responsible. Somewhere along the line we lost the intensity in training. We don’t do it all the time, only occasionally, and that’s why we can’t do it in games.”

West Ham went behind when Mesut Ozil poked in from close range, and from that moment they never threatened to get back into the match.

Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez celebrates scoring their second goal

Arsenal scored a further two goals through Alexis Sanchez, before Andy Carroll netted for the hosts.

West Ham could not build on that goal though, as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain got on the scoresheet, before Sanchez completed his hat-trick.

The defeat heaps further pressure on Bilic, with West Ham making a hugely disappointing start to the new campaign.

The Hammers are currently in 17th place in the Premier League table, and they sit just one point above the drop zone.
