Rangers are pursuing a deal to bring defender Nikola Katic to Ibrox.
According to the Daily Mail, Rangers are continuing talks with Slaven Belupo and the agent of defender Nikola Katic – but the Croatian side’s sporting director has been coy about a move.
The Gers are looking for further reinforcements this summer, having already brought in goalkeeper Allan McGregor as well as midfielders Scott Arfield and Ovie Ejaria.
Whilst Brighton and Hove Albion’s Connor Goldson looks set to arrive to boost Steven Gerrard’s defensive options, Rangers aren’t stopping there with their attempts to strengthen at the back.
The Daily Mail report that Rangers are pursuing a deal for Slaven Belupo’s Nikola Katic, and are continuing talks with both the club and the player’s agent, Mladen Kliskinic, following negotiations on Monday.
Katic, 21, was born in Bosnia and Herzegovina but already has one cap for the Croatian national team, having impressed with Neretvanac Opuzen and now Slaven Belupo.
The 6ft 4in defender has missed out on the World Cup but looks set to earn a move this summer, with Rangers desperately battling against Russian giants Spartak Moscow.
Now, Slaven Belupo’s sporting director Zvonimir Simunovic has told the Daily Mail that news about Katic’s future will be coming soon, with Rangers hoping that the deal goes in their favour.
“I can’t comment about Nikola at the moment, please understand my position. Everything will be clear very soon,” said Simunovic on Monday night.
