Darren Bent has told talkSPORT Breakfast that it’s a ‘slap in the face’ to Dele Alli after Jose Mourinho left his out of Tottenham’s matchday squad that beat Wycombe on Monday.
Given that Spurs were coming up against the Championship’s bottom-of-the-table side, it allowed Mourinho to rest a number of his big hitters.
But even with several changes being made, Alli was left at home to dream about a potential reunion with a certain PSG coach.
Nonetheless, former Spurs striker Bent criticised Mourinho for his Alli decision, as he thinks ‘enough is enough’ now and he needs to leave.
“I think he needs to go out on loan, first and foremost, and then try and get out there permanently,” said Bent. “It can be turned around. Look at Ndombele. He is arguably one of their best players, at this moment in time.
“That there is a slap in the face. Not being in the squad against Wycombe. When Mourinho didn’t fancy him in the Premier League, they are the types of games where he is getting game time.
“But, for me now, he needs to go ‘enough is enough’. I need to get myself out. Go to PSG, if that’s where he is going, play well under Pochettino and hopefully that can turn into a permanent.”

The Telegraph reported that Alli sat out training on Monday and Tuesday for Spurs as talks are ongoing about the 100k-a-week star leaving the club.
The writing is on the wall for Alli in North London and he may well have to swap playing alongside one star duo in Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son for another in Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, if he ends up PSG.
Mourinho’s tough love may not have worked with Alli, but it’s certainly worked with Tanguy Ndombele, so it’s just a case of a pairing that will just never work.
