Stats show Romelu Lukaku’s remarkable improvement for Everton this season

The Belgian is currently second behind Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy in the scoring charts.

With Jamie Vardy’s goal-scoring feats taking up most of the headlines this season, Romelu Lukaku’s fine form has gone somewhat unnoticed.

That is not to say the Belgian has not been praised for his displays thus far, but the Foxes star has certainly taken away most of the limelight.

The Everton forward is currently on 12 Premier League goals for the season, 15 in all competitions when you add in his goals in the League Cup.

Just like Vardy, he has shown a dramatic upturn in form this season to dominate the goal-scoring charts. But just how much has he improved? We decided to take a look at his stats to find out.

And as the stats from Opta in the table above show, it has been a remarkable increase in a number of areas from Lukaku.

The Everton forward has shown a dramatic increase in his goals-to-game ratio, now standing at 0.75 compared to 0.2 last season, while he is also enjoying more shots per game as well as more shots on target per match.

Indeed, when it comes to big chances in games, that has also increased, with Lukaku now scoring 0.5 big chances per game compared to last season’s tally of 0.1.

Even the Everton star’s creative side has shown an impressive improvement, with him registering more assists per game, as well as attempting more per game.

The only area that has seen a reduction is his on-target attempted assists, although given that is not his main strength, it is unlikely to cause much concern.

A big improvement from Lukaku then, who Everton will be hoping can fire them to a challenge for the Champions League places this season.
