The Magpies will look to rebuild their squad this summer following their relegation to the Championship.
Chief among their plans will surely be adding a prove goalscorer to their team, with that having been an area the team struggled in once again this past season.
McCormack fits the bill perfectly in that regard, scoring 23 goals last season despite the fact Fulham struggled at the wrong end of the table throughout.
And Newcastle are keen on a deal for the forward, according to the Daily Mail, seeing the Scot as a potential match winner as they attempt to return to the Premier League at the first attempt.
They are not the only relegated side interested in his services, with Aston Villa and Norwich City also keen on a deal.
Both of those clubs also struggled in the goalscoring department last season and, similar to the Magpies, see McCormack as a fix for that problem.
All three clubs will have to pay big for his services though, with Fulham unlikely to settle for anything less than his current £12million release clause.
