Former Liverpool defender Phil Thompson has taken to social networking site Twitter to wish Rafa Benitez luck after he agreed to stay at Newcastle United.
Benitez took charge at Newcastle United back in March, following the sacking of Steve McClaren.
He proved to be a big hit at St James’ Park, leading on them a late bid for survival in the Premier League.

They were eventually relegated though and it was believed that he would exercise a break clause in his contract and leave the club.
He has instead decided to extend his stay, signing a new three-year deal on Wednesday in what must be considered a major coup for the Magpies.
And reacting on Twitter to the news, Thompson wished the former Liverpool manager luck for the future.
It will now be interesting to see how Benitez fares in the Championship next season as Newcastle look to make an instant return to the Premier League.
Many are predicting that it will be a tough year for them, and given Benitez has no experience of the division, it will be intriguing to see how he copes with the drastic differences he will find awaiting him.
