The former forward recently claimed the Argentine is the only world-class player in the Premier League.
Writing in the Daily Star, Paul Merson has laughed off suggestions by Alan Shearer that Sergio Aguero is the only world-class player in the Premier League.
The former Premier League striker made the interesting claim last week while analysing Manchester City’s win over West Bromwich Albion.
It ended up sparking fierce debate; with fans and pundits alike suggesting the likes of Philippe Coutinho, Eden Hazard, Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil as well as several others are worthy of the tag.

Merson certainly does not agree with Shearers claims, insisting that there are two alone at Arsenal who can claim they are world class.
“I had to laugh when I heard Alan Shearer saying Sergio Aguero was the only world-class player in the Premier League. Arsenal have two in their team in Sanchez and Ozil,” he told the Daily Star.
“Are we going to judge everyone against Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo? Just because you’re not as good as them doesn’t mean you’re not world class.”

Gunners fans would certainly back up Merson’s claims and will be hoping that both players continue to shine this season.
Sanchez has been highly impressive as the central striker this season with eight goals to his name in all competitions while Ozil is just one behind him on seven.
Their form has been key to helping the Gunners sit second in the Premier League and level at the top of their Champions League group and they will want more of the same as Arsenal eye silverware this year.
