Former Premier League midfielder Jimmy Bullard has told the Daily Star that Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has the ability to be world class.

The striker endured another frustrating campaign this past season as injuries once again saw his game time limited.

He returned towards the end of the season though and showed his best form, finishing with 13 goals in 25 appearances in all competitions.

It was the kind of lethal form that indicated why Liverpool are so desperate to keep him fit on a long-term basis.

And Bullard says that he believes the striker has everything that a player needs to become world class.

“Daniel Sturridge could be world-class,” he told the Daily Star.

“He’s got it in him to actually go there. Because he’s got everything you need to have. It’s just applying it on the pitch and doing it at the right moment.”

Despite what Bullard may believe, it will be interesting to see what role Sturridge has to play at Liverpool next season.

He has found himself increasingly on the bench under Jurgen Klopp, with Divock Origi having looked a better fit into the German’s system.

That is a situation that a striker of Sturridge’s quality is unlikely to be happy with long-term, and it will be intriguing to see if he pushes for a move away should it continue.
